Harwich Port – starting transit declarations

Harwich Port is a popular exit port located in the south east of the UK, north of London with good links to the EU via the Port of Rotterdam.

Process

A pre-notification may be sent to UK Border Force to inform them of the arrival of the truck and driver. The transit LRN and documents should be sent to the email address below;

Harwichinternationaltradeteam@homeoffice.gov.uk

The driver should then go to the International Trade Public Counter located inside the port area to the rear of Port Services with the LRN and supporting paperwork. UK Border Force will generate an MRN and provide the driver with the printed TAD (Transit Accompanying Document).

Additional information

The necessary ENS declaration for entrance to the EU is generated by the ferry company (e.g., Stena Line) based on data provided at the time of ferry booking.

The Portbase notification required for entry to the Port of Rotterdam is also generated by the ferry company.
